Manage your team’s progress with affordable and flexible online courses for rental technicians
The Stimson Group is pleased to announce its new online training portal for the audiovisual rental industry. Staff and freelance technicians will welcome the opportunity to show you what they really know while they learn new skills. Courses are categorized into four skill levels and each one includes a test to prove that learning has taken place. Good Managers will recognize that training serves two purposes: developing better technicians and rewarding hard-working employees.
How Should I Use This?
First, download the Course Descriptions for a course list with brief descriptions. Note that the training is divided into skill levels and disciplines. The emphasis is on the practical application of theory. Products are presented generically and photographs and video enhance the learning experience. Most courses have videos that reproduce the text for auditory/visual learners while high quality photographs illustrate key concepts.
Identify one course that would make sense for your technicians. I recommend setting up a newer employee in ET101 Basic EventTechnology. This is a comprehensive five hour course that combined with 90 days of seasoning will produce the equivalent of 12-18 months of OJT (on-the-job training). This is a bargain at $250. If you have an under-skilled freelance pool or employ a lot of venue-based staff, this course covers all the breakout room basics.
Next, go online and create a sign-in for that employee (or yourself if you want to be the guinea pig). Purchase some credit hours (ET101 is 5 hours, but most courses are 1 or 2 credit hours), select a course, and get started. When you think you know the material, take the test to validate your accomplishment. You can even print a certificate with your name and course title.
